Liquipedia App — Home Page Redesign
Improving clarity and navigation for a high-traffic esports app.
The Home page is the most frequently used screen in the Liquipedia app, where users discover matches, results and events. The goal of this project was to simplify the experience and make it easier for users to quickly find what matters to them.
Role
UX Designer. Focused on research, interaction design and prototyping.
The Problem
The existing Home page presented a large amount of information without clear prioritization. Users with different interests (matches, events, results, teams) had to spend time searching for what mattered to them.
This led to:
- slower content discovery
- limited personalization
- unnecessary cognitive load
Research & Insights
Through user feedback and internal data, a few key patterns emerged:
- Users mainly care about matches, upcoming events and results
- Different users prioritize different types of content
- Users want more control over what they see
This showed that the Home page should move from a static overview to a more flexible, personalized experience.

Design Approach
Based on these insights, I explored ways to:
- prioritize time-sensitive content (live, upcoming, results)
- make personalization visible and easy to adjust
- keep the interface flexible without becoming overwhelming
I created multiple wireframe concepts to test different content orders, layouts, and interaction patterns. These concepts focused on modular sections that could adapt to user preferences while maintaining a consistent structure.

Design & Iteration
Using Figma, I developed interactive prototypes to test:
- different section hierarchies
- customizable Home layouts
- calendar-based navigation for esports events
- spoiler-free viewing options
Key improvements included:
- clearer separation between Live, Upcoming, and Recent content
- an editable Home layout, allowing users to prioritize what matters most to them
- integrated calendar views (Day, Week, Month) for better overview of events
- consistent visual patterns across Home, Calendar, and Match views
Feedback from testing helped refine spacing, labeling, and interaction clarity, ensuring the Home page remained powerful but easy to scan.

Outcome & Impact
The redesign improved clarity and made the Home page easier to scan and navigate.
Key improvements included:
- Clearer separation between content types
- More intuitive navigation between live, upcoming and past events
- Better overview through integrated calendar views
The result is a more flexible and user-centered Home page that supports both casual users and dedicated esports fans.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritization is essential when designing for high-frequency content
- Personalization needs to be visible and easy to control
- Small adjustments can significantly improve usability
This project deepened my understanding of how to design for repeat usage, time-sensitive content, and diverse user needs within a single, scalable interface.
